School's OUT!

First official day of summer holidays at our house and it is a HOT one!  When it is so cold and miserable for most of our year you tend to want to enjoy the summer days as much as you can however when it is this hot I need to find shade.  So with guilty feelings galore, I ended up spending most of the weekend in our basement where it was nice and cool and tried to clean up some more projects.  So here are a few more calendar pages... and since I was home alone this weekend I also read a book!

 A Date with my Daughter

Elizabeth and I decided that since we are making a fairy garden maybe we should make a fairy card too.  We got out the old box of Laurentien Pencil Crayons.  I still love coloring with my pencil crayons and are my favorite standby.  I think she did a fantastic job coloring hers!  Can you tell which one it is?  She colored the water fairy and purple mushroom.  Now to add some glitter to the wings and finish them into cards.  I love spending time like this with her - I think she is growing up to be a talented little lady.

And There Goes Another Weekend....

Sure doesn't take long to burn through 48 hours.  Plus it was the longest day of the year.  We had over 17 hours of full sunlight and then you can add on the dawn and twilight hours to that - I don't think the birds quit chirping all night because it never got dark enough for them to go to bed!  I feel I should have been able to get more accomplished but it doesn't need to be dark for me to go to bed! I did manage to get three more months of my calendar finished - keeping it simple - it goes faster :)  And I did get all my plants in the ground for my fairy garden.  I was rewarded the next day with a inch of rain - perfect!  I will update pictures once everything gets established and it starts to look like something.

The weekend will soon be here and I have so many projects planned plus a 40th wedding anniversary to help with - Yes I am delusional to think it is all getting done... my fairy garden is a must before my plants die of neglect though.  It has taken me three years to get this far...  I need some magic pixie dust to help me along or some willing muscles.  Rocks are heavy and I have had to haul and place them all.

That being said though I am working on a calendar for my parents for Christmas so hopefully I can get a few more months done - So while I know its a bit early, before you know it Christmas will be here and it is always a mad rush at our house.  Maybe I can be on time and sane this year...

Good Morning Crafters!


It is a bright and sunny start to the day.  Fog is lifting out of the valley.  It feels like a butterfly card kind of day...

The background was created on water color paper using a resist embossing technique.  Some vellum layered butterflies create the focal point.  Maybe it will be my mom's Mother's Day Card.  I didn't get her a card made in time and did promise her one would be forthcoming... If you read this Mom - be surprised when you open the envelope!  luv ya.
