HOLIDAY HOOPLA

So I going through my project box this weekend to see what inspired me - I had all these wood shapes that were intended for painting however it soon became apparent that a painter I am NOT! Out came the pretty papers and a few embellishments.  I still need to add wire so I can hang them but I thought they turned out pretty cute.

Fridays Funny...

Also a quick little project out of my box...I have a dozen or so hoop frames so took some fabric, a permanent ink pad and my favorite pencil crayons and did up an assortment of little wall hangings for friends and family for part of their Christmas baskets this year.  This way I also avoid a little of the December Madness and Mayhem and it is one project out of the box!

 Seaside Summers

Closest we get to the seaside in the summer is the slough down the road that someone with visions of grandeur decided to call a "lake".  It does have snail shells you can collect out of the mud though - woo hoo! That is NOT what I used on my card however.  I place little SEA shells in a silver ring on a scrap of acetate and flooded it with Crystal Glaze.  When the glaze was dry I popped it off the acetate sheet and adhered it to my card from along with a little turtle brad I got from Emerald Creek Crafts in Calgary  (she has some cool stuff and is one of the suppliers for my little store)

Flutter By oh Butterfly

I painted a couple wooden plaques that were kicking around my craft room and decided to create some wall art.  It was easier than trying to find a storage spot for them.  Still trying to get my room re-organized so I created a box of project stuff that if I would just finish the projects I would have a lot more space in my room.  Little tricky since some of the stuff I need to finish some of the projects is still lost in the rubble but it was a start at least...

Wonderful Wednesday... OR "I Actually Got Something Done" Day

Here is my super cute (I think) desk organizer I finally got together.  The base is from Kaiser Craft and has been sitting assembled and painted for some time now.  I am sure the paper was from Recollections..?I'm not a big one for a whole lot of bling and bluster so let the paper do most of the work for me.  Stay Tuned - I will be creating a matching address book to go with it. Eventually...

 A Marvelous Monday Morning

Thought I would try something different this weekend.  Stamping on COOKIES!  Because it wasn't hot enough in the house I had to turn the oven on too.  It has been soooo hot and dry and I wasn't very popular after that (especially since I wouldn't let anyone have any of the cookies afterwards).  So I used royal icing to flood the cookies, let them sit all afternoon to harden and then stamped away.  I boxed up sets of the brown - nature themed cookies for my stamp club members and the ballet slippers went to my daughters dance instructor. Completely edible and they looked great when I had them all boxed up and packaged pretty.  Why didn't I take a picture of that?!?!?  Now I want to do Halloween COokIEs for our annual haunted Halloween bash!  Can't wait....

A Quickie...

Here is quick little book I made for a friend to record her summer with her granddaughter.  It simply uses a square piece of card stock to create the base pages, fold, assemble and embellish!  I thought the colors were nice and summery.  I will also include a little envelope of extra embellishments that she can add after she gets her pictures in place.

Friday's Funny

This weekend I hope to clean up my room a bit and organize some projects that are close to completion but got lost in the rubble...

For my last Stamp Club night I showed the girls how to make an accordion step card and they practiced using water color pencil crayons. Not one turned out the same!  Everyone had different color combinations and layouts.  It was a lot of fun to see the creativity come forth.

Happy Canada Day!

So here is to a free country that is full of beauty....My first attempt at a box card.  Little tricky lining up the patterned paper to cut it but then I had a brain wave to cut both layers at the same time and then just move the patterned paper down to create a border.  MUCH easier.

Enjoy the fireworks tonight - if you have any in your area - and if you can stay up for them...
